An adult webmaster resource...

We've talked a lot here about how many skills an adult webmaster has to be competent in, and probably one of the most important ones is in writing copy for your sites. There are 2 main kinds of writing that you need to be able to do on your adult sites:

1) Writing ads and text links (both long and short).

2) Writing body text - for the search engines AND that form part of your ads.

Writing on your webpages is a form of free content too. If you can write a short story, for example, then you've got a very valid page of content that you paid for only in the time it took to write it. Search engines LOVE text - and there's no limit to the number of short, text pages you can get indexed, and get traffic to.

Me - WRITE?

Unless you had a job as a journalist before this, or you're an ex-author or something, then the thought of writing adult text for your pages might sound a bit worrying. You might not have put pen to paper or, erm... fingers to keyboard, since your college / school years. Well don't worry. The most important thing to learn at this stage is that EVERYONE can write good text on their webpages. You don't have to be a literary genius to be able to do that...

Don't be shy...

The next hurdle to overcome, when you start writing creative porn-text, is not to worry about it. It's not something in most cases that you're going to print out and then show all your friends so don't be embarrassed about writing for the erotic market. It might seem weird at first to be writing about all things porn-related, but it will get much easier with time and before long writing lines like, "Watch Alice and Mandy getting kinky..." will be second nature. Just let your imagination run wild - start writing, and have some fun with this...

Just using what's there already...

As I've mentioned in a few posts before here, when it comes to text links, you don't HAVE to think anything original up - you can use the text that you'll find at your sponsors, on the following sources:

On banners and other graphics.

On full page ads.

On the tour of the Paysite you're promoting.

So if you're completely stumped, or your brain has had enough and is on strike, then check out those sources. It's likely that you'll be able to pull one great text link after another from there - or you'll at least get the skeletons of some great ads that can be fleshed out later on.

Body text - keep it short...

We all know that search engines LOVE well-written, keyword-rich body text, right? But don't forget that you can get some amazing positions in the search engines, under important keyphrases, with pretty SHORT pages. Even if you're like me, and find it hard to write page after page of appealing text, you can get away with a page of 50 - 75 words of text. That shouldn't take too long to whip up and, I guarantee, the search engines will LOVE those pages.

One great tip that I have used myself is to write an HTML page from scratch. The benefit in this is that you'll get a page that is 100% unique, and that the search engines will not have seen before. These pages can do very well, and they're free and easy to make. Write, write write - it's a skill that can get you serious SE traffic and increase your profits over and over.

Some TRICKS!

Let's look at some tips 'n' tricks when it comes to writing SEXY text for those pages of yours:

Stuck on what to write? Put a pic on the page and describe the scene. This will give you 100% relevant, keyword-rich text that should do well in the search engines.

Describe the SITE: "Welcome to my latest site, which has three galleries of..." - again, a great way to generate some relevant and important text for your website. You can carry this theme on to each page and submit each one to the SE's.

Read other sites & magazines - Wake that dirty mind up! Start researching books, magazines, and also websites out there. Some link lists have a section for story sites, and you can pick up on the different writing styles from there. With practice, you can emulate the different styles.

Write as a fellow surfer. The 'play it dumb' / friendly surfer approach has always worked well, and still does. Personal recommendations are a great way to get traffic to your sponsors and to make the sales. Just write as yourself - as if you were telling a friend about the BEST site you'd ever found.

Write as a model. Write as a male or female model. Describe the photo shoot on your site, or a personal experience (whether it happened or not!) Cut the story short and then have a link to your sponsors that says something like, "CONTINUE THE JOURNEY" - or just "MORE" - remember - TEASE!
