Making free sites...
So this is the last part of FREE SITE SCHOOL - for now anyways! Free sites are one of the easiest ways to get into the adult webmaster business, but their uses extend way beyond the early months in this business. Free sites are a way to GET traffic - as well as make money. Whether you choose to make a lot of highly focused free sites, or to spend your time perfecting a handful of them - and maximising your traffic that way, it's up to you. The main thing to remember here is that free sites are the building blocks of your adult business for now and way into the future...
A brief recap on building free sites...
In my overview of building free sites, we've looked at:
• The index page
• The full page ad page
• The main page
• The gallery pages
• The picture pages...
Each of these pages should be getting traffic, and sending traffic. They all need to stand alone as well as be able to work as part of the whole. If you really want to make the most of your traffic - then try to get traffic to each part. Your homepage will always get the most traffic as this is where all of your incoming traffic from the link lists, link trades, and other places will come.
Ten things to DO
1) Spend time on each area, optimizing and getting the ads right.
2) Use lots of text links - they load instantly, and sell a lot better.
3) Choose your keywords for each site and pages carefully.
4) Focus on something particular - a fetish or a niche...
5) Make each new site look different from what's out there. Be ORIGINAL!
6) Keep the file sizes down.
7) Get the warning, USC and blocking software (if applicable) links out of the way.
8) GRAB the surfer's attention and play games with where they 'think' things should be...
9) Put the pics on HTML pages.
10) Check all of your links.
Ten things NOT to do!
1) Don't worry too much about speed or how many you have in the beginning - get them right...
2) Don't try to please everyone with one site - build a number of specialized sites.
3) Avoid vast graphic full page ads that will take a long time to load.
4) Never let the index page be all about the warning text.
5) Don't give them an easy ride.
6) Make sure you don't have MONSTER sized JPGs for pics.
7) Use only banners - you won't make the sales!
8) Use hardcore or unlicensed content.
9) Don't forget to populate the site with PLENTY of ads. Many don't!
10) Don't have huge graphics for logos or navigation...
SPEED, speed - speed!!!
If everyone on the web had super-fast connections, we'd all be rich! I mean can you imagine all those juicy full page ads loading instantly - and being able to use all the graphics we wanted to? Maybe that day is coming, but it's a long way off right now. For now, we have to accept that most of the surfers out there will not have the luxury of ADSL or some other form of fast connection. When they view our sites, they are going to load slowly IF we don't optimize them. Make sure that your sites use the minimum graphics possible. Use text unless you absolutely have to use graphics...
Build and move on! There's a point where tweaking and altering a free site any further is going to be a waste of time. Trust me - in a few months, if you come back to the site you've just made, you'll be able to see the mistakes in it easily. Don't worry too much about perfection the first time around. No-one's early free sites are immaculate. The great thing about the web is that nothing is set in stone and you can easily alter and fix things LATER.
What's the purpose of a free site?
When you're building free sites, it's easy to lose track of what you're trying to do. I don't think there's a webmaster out there who hasn't fallen into the trap of making a MONSTER 'pretty site' with lots of nice navigation, and other effects. The golden rule, if there is one with free sites, is that EVERYTHING must be there for a reason. Surfers have a very short attention span and anything that you put on the page which does not get traffic, or make sales will detract from the free site's mission. Be strict and forget about entertaining or making things look good - it's about getting traffic and making money.
Final thoughts...
Don't get discouraged if you read posts by webmasters saying that they've made "a hundred free sites today...". Take your time and enjoy making your sites. You're going to have to make a lot with them and live with them for a long time. Make them YOURS! Put a bit of you into every free site you make. You don't have to be a marketing genius to sell from a free site - even in today's market - you just have to TALK to the surfer. Everyone can communicate with other people - we do it every day. All you have to do is to get that kind of rapport going on your free sites.
One of your first goals, if you are new to this business, should be getting your first free adult site out there on the web. This is not a simple task! There's a lot to think about, and a lot to learn and do. But once you've got the first one out there - the rest will be a lot easier. Get your first free site out there and then ask for a review.
GOOD LUCK and happy free site building!
