Hi TNB
I found this link on an other board, It's about using wordpress as an CMS.
Even if you just want to edit wordpress templates it shows some very clever stuff to use:

http://www.webdesignerwall.com/tutorials/wordpress-theme-hacks/

Have fun!

Here's a great little freebie that I'm using at the moment.

IE Tester
http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage

It lets you test out your pages and sites on any version of IE from one little program, from 5.5 onwards.

Wish there was a similar one for Firefox!

I think you gave webmastering a more than fair go and it really wasn't your thing. Stick with your strengths and that seems to be writing and just keep building at that.

mr ritto

yes sir i'm still writing. even have a female friend working with me now and waiting on her lease to run out so she can move in here with me and we can work full time.

things started blasting off all of a sudden since i now have help filling orders and not turning down anything.

I even sold one of her assignments this morning. a 3500 word article on President Abraham Lincolns life before his presidency to a childrens online history information site she had been working on and posted online at one of them freelance writer boards for sale.

so we trying to drum up all we can. we are bidding and writing right below the current writing standard prices most are charging, but not intentually trying to blow the standard apart, just to get more action.

we can cover stories, articles, blog post and almost anything else under adult and mainstream.

even have 2 more used computers that are promised to be here sometime in the next 2 weeks. plus another female neighbor who just told me last night she will join our little business also.

so with 3 of us by September on board we should be capable of covering anything.

then i can get us a domain and try to buid us a website for a website text business.
[of course you seen how my sites come out, not to professional looking!]

mainstream articles and blogs are still using text real heavy. adult has slack off a bit.

I may not have to ever go back to webmastering. although i do like trying to build websites. maybe now as a hobby.

may be down for a couple days though if you don't hear back from me right away, looks like we got that nasty bitch Fay going to either hit us pretty close or right on top of us.

oh, forgot sent email under business addrees, so a spam filter may catch it.
href="mailto:vpromo1@gmail.com">vpromo1@gmail.com

if so let me know if you dont recieve it and I will send under my personl account email.

Mr. Licious, RE: message #295400:

Here's a page I built last week for nothing but traffic generation ...

http://www.sissyjanegirl.com/

Its still very basic but its there for only 2 reasons. One is to generate new traffic from I domain I already had but dont know what to do with, and the second reason is that every single link either goes to another site of mine or has the potential to earn me money.

Another source of good incoming links and extra traffic is a toplist. I have an old one that generate about 10,000 unique hits a month, and another of similiar age and in the same niche that does less than a thousand.

My point being that some are pure goldmines and others are a disapointment. But its worth building a few to see which ones are a success. Here's one I built last week, still very bare and basic but it will mature over time. Build and forget policy can apply here ...

http://www.handsinpanties.com/tl/

Take note that in my toplists its more about the links at the top, side and below, rather than the actual toplist entries. They make the occasional sale.

But more importently, the toplists generate traffic. Good ones do it very very well. Give me a shout if you need a link to a free toplist script and some advice on how to customise it.

Mr. Licious, RE: message #295398:

These days, SEO it's all about links (more or less). If you can get a decent amount of "strong" links to your websites or pages, you can rank very high. Whether those links come from your own domains or from others doesn't matter all that much as long as it doesn't look "artificial" or "spammy", whatever that means.

Then, of course, it's a matter of what your page is about. A page about "lesbians" will certainly get more searches and traffic than a page about "bald lesbians doing a threesome with one purple and one golden dildo". But more traffic doesn't necessarily mean more money as we all know .

EDIT to add: And of course, you have to take those "thousands of hits a day"-statements with a grain of salt. Some webmasters tend to exaggerate a bit

Good evening TNB gang.

It's a nice evening here on west coast USA and and a little bit after 11 pm.
I've got the door open and there is a nice mild breeze colling the apartment off while I work here at the computer.

How does everybody handle SEO for their webpages these days?

I was surfing over on another adult board that goes by a three letter abreviation
and I see that some folks are able to put up a page or two and they wind up getting thousands of hits to it.

I have put up pages and played with the keywords a bit, but I would say I might get a hundered hits in a good month. If even that.

It kind of makes me wonder if I am missing something important in my work ideas.

Anyway, off to see if I can find Tom's keywords tutorial and resource pages.

congradulations Mr Tom

------------------------------------------
warning

well looks like i have to get serious about webmastering, a lot more then i ever have.

going mainstream and adult

right now going to use those free subdomains that certain sponsors give to affiliates.

does anyone accept sponsor hosted domains for trades and linklist?

any recomendations on some sponsors that offer this kind of hosting would be appreciated. will be glad to sign under your refernce account.

since it takes some time to get any cash flowing in, guess i'm goining to go out and find a partime night job [20 to 25 hours SSD says wont affect my benifits]job stocking or something somewhere within limping distance and nights in case i cant get home and that way my son is home to come get me.

these 2 girls of mine and my 3 grandkids have completely dried me up.

at least they all starting school next week, even the 5 and 4 year olds. then will only have to put up with the baby girl during the day.

she turns one soon, time sure flies

just wanted to warn yall i be lurking more

I've spent most of my adult life living on small scottish islands. Some have been so wind swept that no trees can take root, and others that are so mountainous that trees cant grow that high.

And now I live in a very flat part of scotland, with fields of wheat and bright yellow rape seed oil flowers, instead of heather and sheep. Its so different.

Did you notice the curvature of the earth in that photo, lol, an optical illusion as the buildings are on the top of a very gentle hill (thats considered a mountain in this flat part of Scotland, lol).

You hit the nail on the head. I followed Tom's advice on this many years ago. Some, not all, micro niches make money, and some turn out to be a whole lot more popular than you first imagine.

Here's some of my failures ....

I had a site that specialised in french house maids. A complete failure.

A site that specialised in men eating / drinking their own cum. Not much interest there.

A site that specialised in men and anal toys, nope.

A site that specialised in men having sex with food Nope, a waste of time, but I had great fun and lots of laughs in doing the research for this one, lol. I'm still giggeling now ...

That first one I mentioned, french house maids. If I could get the content then I'd do that one again, the twist being that this time it would be men in french house maid uniforms! Now thats a site I can sell.

Basically, crossdressing websites turned out to be the surprise niche that makes the majority of my money, even to this day. I've recently hit upon another big surprise but its too new for me to share here yet.

Do something with those ideas on the backburner. One of them could turn out to be the cash cow you've always hoped for.

How goes it?

Thanks karla & mr ritto.

I have a folder on my desktop named "backburner" that is full of ideas. I like that idea of microniches - it would be relatively easy since I can write my own material, although finding sponsors would still be the thing. Seems to me that you might not have massive traffic, but the ones you have would be faithful and likely to spend a few bucks to have what they really want. JMHO

And oh yeah, I still have some of the ol' Toms blogs chugging right along making their money for me

Have a great weekend folks

Evenin' all

Found a cool tool to share. Lets you check for spelling mistakes on a page already uploaded.

www.spellist.com

It doesn't highlight the actual error, but shouldn't be too difficult to search the page for each (if any)boo boo.

i keep several "running" idea lists. one is on the computer, the other(s) are spread out and (somewhat) mapped out over a series of spiral composition notebooks that go back about 10 years.

i fully comprehend the "finding content" for a niche issue.

anything that ritto sells!

I wish! As I've been exploring new and wonderful micro niches I nearly always end up hitting one of the following problems ...

1) Finding the content to create the site
2) Finding any sponsors to promote
3) Finding the traffic to send to the site

One of my latest projects is in my tagline. I've got the content, I've got the sponsors. But cant find the traffic, I have no other sites in that niche to bump start it into action.

Its currently signed up to lots of niche specific toplists, most of which are sending zero hits but I'll give them a few, weeks yet to see how they improve before dropping links.

Having said that, it made its first sale last night, at a ratio of 1:10 Somehow I think thats not going to be the typical ratio, but we can dream.

As for future projects, I keep a pen and paper list of ideas. Most will never get past the ideqa stage but some are a dead 100% certain hit, once I can fufil all 3 of the items listed above. My adult baby sites were once on my list, and now a reality, and making sales.

If you dont already, I'd advise everyone to start a list of ideas. And my other great list I keep on my PC desktop, a to do list. This one is electronic as oppsed to pen and paper as its always being added to and items removed. I now have no excuse for sitting in front of the PC with nothing to do, unless I choose to be doing nothing

he is totally talented and comes up with some rather "interesting" niches.

drop me an email, i DO have an interesting mainstream niche i can point your way.

WP blogs are great, don't get me wrong...BUT - tom's blog script still stands as one of the best around. i use both and tom's STILL rocks solidly!

mornin' TNB

I got all involved in the mainstream biz again for a while. Am just starting a little work on some sex blogs - a framework to hang sex stories into. I see I'm not the only one who has started trying out those WP blogs. Nice one-click install with my webhost and spiffy RSS feeds finally suckered me in. Anyhow, it is all probably going to go pretty slow as it will be sort of a spare time thing, almost for fun really.

If experience means anything - the less I do, the more money I'll make - LOL. Come to think of it, since my Adsense income tanked the last two months, maybe I should quit mainstream and play with sex sites for the rest of the summer. *evil grin*

I have to ask though - what, if anything, is selling best for everyone now? I watch my new roomie surf for hours and hours glomming up free porn movies and pictures, hardcore, fetish, whatever he wants he seems to find plenty of without spending a dime. What's left to sell?

This will redirect every request to myspace or yahoo to the IP 216.239.51.104, which is one of Google's. You can change the IP to whatever IP you like. If you use 127.0.0.1 any requests will loop back to your own computer.

That is a really simple solution, I've saved this snippet of information in my "webmaster notes" folder. Fantastic advice
