A guide to mirroring sites and galleries...
An adult webmaster resource
Making 'mirrors' is something that most people will encounter sooner or later on the adult web. Mirroring lets you squeeze the most from each site and TGP gallery that you make.
So what does mirroring mean?
Technically speaking, when you mirror, you duplicate a webpage. I'll get to WHY we do this in a moment, but for now - visualize a webpage on your hard disk. Let's call it (rather imaginatively) page.html. You could create a duplicate version of that page and call it pageb.html. You've now got a webpage and a MIRROR version of it. Just like if you were to look in a mirror - you'd see an exact same version of you staring back.
Let's look at a page, and a mirror version of it on my webspace:
The original page:
http://www.topniche.com/newbie-booster/resources/examples/mirroring/page.html
A mirror version of it:
http://www.topniche.com/newbie-booster/resources/examples/mirroring/pageb.html
So when webmasters say "you should mirror your page" what they are saying is "you should duplicate your page"... this will all make more sense when we look at WHY this is done.
The reason for making mirrors
Making mirror pages came about as an answer to a serious problem for adult webmasters.
Let's imagine that you've made a porn page and you want to get that page listed on some link lists out there. Each of those link lists requires you to add a recip button or text link BACK to them from this page.
Not sure what a 'recip' is? Click here:
http://www.adultwebmasterglossary.com/#Recip
So you think OK - and start adding links back to these link sites so that you can submit your page to them. But then you notice that this page is quickly filling up with the reciprocal links. Now we've got a problem. Because there's no way that you can fit 60 recip links on this page and submit to those 60 link lists. In fact, you realize that you're not going to be able to fit more than a handful of recip links on this page.
Here's how a page might look with only 12 recip links on it:
http://www.topniche.com/newbie-booster/resources/examples/mirroring/cramped.html
Those recips are taking up a LOT of space... It's clear that you can only fit 6 recip links comfortably on this page. But what if those 6 link lists don't send you much traffic? What can you do about the other 54 link lists that you're going to miss out on? Can each page only be submitted to 6 link lists? This is where mirroring comes in.
We can duplicate our page 10 times, add 6 recip links per page, and then submit these pages to all 60 link lists on our list.
Re-read that last sentence, because it's probably the most important part of this article - and the very heart of the mirroring process. If we didn't mirror this page then all the effort that went into making it would be pretty much wasted. Mirroring ensures that we'll get the most traffic for our efforts - squeezing every last surfer to our site or page.
Now look at the following page and it's 'mirrors':
The original page:
http://www.topniche.com/newbie-booster/resources/examples/mirroring/my_page.html
Mirror 1:
http://www.topniche.com/newbie-booster/resources/examples/mirroring/my_pageb.html
Mirror 2:
http://www.topniche.com/newbie-booster/resources/examples/mirroring/my_pagec.html
I've only created 2 mirrors (duplicates) of this page and already we've managed to a) maintain the goal of only having 6 recip links per page, and b) be able to submit to all 60 link lists. (Remember - I could keep on creating mirror pages until I'd added links back to all of the link lists I wanted to submit to).
You can use mirroring with TGP & TGP2 galleries, free sites, search engine sites, and link list websites.
How to make mirror versions
There are three main ways to create mirror versions of any webpage.
1) Save as, save as, save as...
- Open your page up in any HTML editor and then choose FILE -> SAVE AS.
- And then give it a different name.
- Repeat this process for each mirror page you require.
This is probably the easiest way to start out making mirrors.
2) Copy 'n' paste, copy 'n' paste, copy 'n' paste...
- Start Windows Explorer (or a similar file manager tool).
- Highlight the file you want to create a mirror version of.
- Press CTRL + C on the keyboard.
- Press CTRL + V on the keyboard for the number of mirror versions you require.
- Then rename each of the miles accordingly.
For this option - you might want to also take a look at:

3) With a software tool...
I'll get back to this in a second...
Naming mirrors...
There are number of different ways you can name mirror pages. The most common two are:
1) Numerically:
index1.html
index2.html
index3.html
index4.html
index5.html...
2) Alphabetically:
indexa.html
indexb.html
indexc.html
indexd.html
indexe.html...
It's 100% up to you what you call your mirror pages.
A look at mirroring free sites...
So far I've looked at mirroring a simple page (in the examples above). It's easy to visualize how a TGP gallery, which had been mirrored, would look using these examples - but what about a link list WEBSITE. After all - we're not talking about one single page in that case. A free site has an index page, a main page, and then probably some gallery pages after that - how do you mirror all that?
There are two major ways that people mirror their adult websites:
1) Just the index page baby!
The index page links to the main page. It's the very first page that the surfer comes to. So most adult webmasters choose to make mirrors of this page - and they all link to the main page.
index1.html
index2.html
index3.html
index4.html
index5.html...
All link to the main page. The rest of the site is the same. Take a look at this diagram, which illustrates how the mirrored index pages in a free site all point to the main page:
You can see from this drawing that you could have as many indexX.html mirror pages as you wanted to, each having around 6 - 8 recip links on them. This is how adult webmasters manage to make one website and submit it to a hundred or MORE link lists.
2) Mirror the entire site.
You could put the recip links on your main page but then this causes problems when you want to mirror a site using the method above. After all, you can have multiple index pages, but how do you have multiple main pages - your galleries can only point back to main.html - not main1.html and so on.
You can get around this problem by mirroring the entire site.
Make a folder called 'free-pics' or something and then copy and paste ALL the html from the root folder that makes up the site into there - index.html, main.html, gallery1.html 2,3 and all the pic pages. I leave the graphics where they are and alter all the /images/ paths to ../images/ so that they are loaded from the root folder. (And the picture links...)
It takes up VERY little disk space (around 60kb!) and seems to be the best way to mirror sites AND keep your index page for your own ads. It's also easier to track where your traffic is coming from and going to this way I've found.
Here's an example:
Main site:
http://www.xxxfootpics.com/
Mirror in sub-directory:
http://www.xxxfootpics.com/free-area/
Will making mirrors get you into trouble?
No - making mirrors is accepted at just about every link list, TGP and TGP2 out there. But always read the label. It makes sense to check the rules before you submit anywhere. But mirroring is widespread and it's perfectly acceptable. Think about it: The deal is still the same. The link list / TGP / whatever still gets content for their surfers - AND they get traffic from your mirror page (as it's getting listed at other places too!) So the traffic source owner gets something good from the arrangement too.
Submitting and staying organized...
Now we come to something VERY important: submitting! When you make mirror pages - you create a whole new world of problems for yourself. It's SO easy to submit the wrong mirror page to the wrong link list. If I have created a TGP gallery for example, and mirrored it, it's ESSENTIAL that I submit the TGP gallery with recips 1 - 4 on it to the corresponding 4 TGPs. If I submit the WRONG mirror version to the TGP, they won't find their recip link and I won't get listed.
Take your time when submitting. Look at the gallery in your browser and make sure you're submitting the right mirror to the right traffic source.
Have text file before you start with which looks something like this:
Alpha Camel - FATPad - Granny Pictures - Free Pics Page
http://www.bar-fuck.com/tgp/pervert-nurses/index031.html
Dirty Daughter - BullDog List - Cow List - Pics King
http://www.bar-fuck.com/tgp/pervert-nurses/index032.html
... so that it's easier to submit the correct page to the correct places.
Tools that could help...
There are tools out there which will generate the recips for you, or help with submission in some ways. The four that I'd recommend looking into are as follows:
Free Site Assistant (Free sites)
http://www.freesiteassistant.com/
Link Up Pro (Free site and TGP mirror automatic generation)
http://www.linkuppro.com/
GASS (TGP mirror automatic generation)
http://www.darksoftcomputers.com/gass/
Neticule's (free) tool (recips and submission)
http://www.adult-adobe.com/utilities/fs-submit/
Good luck and happy mirroring!
